About
The ACPA Annual Awards for Excellence in Concrete Pavement are designed to honor quality concrete pavements constructed in the United States and Canada each year. The awards program encourages high-quality workmanship in every concrete pavement project and serves as a forum for sharing information about highly successful projects.
The awards program recognizes contractors, engineers, and project owners who completed outstanding projects. Winning an Award for Excellence in Concrete Pavement provides the contractors, engineers, and owners with a level of prestige that can assist them in the development of future projects.
Judges will score all eligible projects and break any ties. Based on the judging results, two projects will be selected from each category to receive an award. A gold award will be given to the top-scoring project in each category and a silver award to the second-highest-scoring project. Award winners will be notified they've won an award by email and letter, prior to the awards banquet. The award level (gold or silver) will be announced for the first time at the awards banquet.
Project Submittals
Submittal forms must be fully completed online for consideration in the ACPA National Awards program. If the requested information does not apply to your specific project, please indicate this in the submittal.
Projects are only eligible for the National awards program if:
- They are submitted to ACPA on or prior to the National submission deadline of Friday, July 11th, 2025. Currently, submittals are only being accepted for participating local Chapter/State award programs. Please check with your Chapter/State association for local award deadlines. Local award-winning submittals will be automitically entered-into the National program, when the program opens and submittals are accepted in late April.
- All sections of the submittal form are completed. (Note: submitters may elect to denote any sections as “not applicable”).
- They won a local award1 in the same category in which they are being submitted in the National award program, unless
- they are from a territory that does not have a local awards program, or
- they are nominated for a National awards program category that does not match a local awards program category.
- They were completed in calendar year 2024.2
1 Many ACPA-affiliated Chapter/State Associations conduct local pavement awards programs. It is required that you submit your project to a local program, where available, prior to submitting to the National awards program. The review panel considers only winners of local programs when judging the National awards.
2 Some ACPA–affiliated Chapter/State Associations site-inspect finished projects for local award evaluation. In unique circumstances, the Chapter/State may not have had an opportunity to site-inspect and recognize a project completed in 2023 until after the National award deadline passed for 2023 projects. If you completed a project in 2023 and were not able to meet eligibility requirements, due to the circumstances described, you may be eligible for award consideration this year. Email awards@acpa.org for eligibility verification.
Before submitting to the National awards program, please check with your local ACPA Chapter/State association for award program information and rules of eligibility.
Project Categories
Project Photographs
High quality project photographs are required with each submittal. They should capture the unique aspects of construction and show the finished project under traffic. High quality digital photographs are a very important part of the submission and subsequent activities. Submittals should contain a maximum of ten high quality photographs highlight both the project process and final product. Keep in mind that one photograph from a winning project may be chosen for a magazine cover. We recommend that each submittal have at least one cover worthy photo.
Promotional Consideration
